Rand Environmental Services, Inc has been a licensed abatement contractor since 1993, having completed hundreds of projects in the states in which we are licensed. What is Asbestos?
Asbestos is a heat-resistant, fibrous silicate mineral that can be woven into fabrics, and was used in fire-resistant and insulating materials.

Why is it Dangerous?
Asbestos is dangerous when fibers spread into the air, in most cases due to erosion or damage to asbestos containing materials. Asbestos fibers that enter the lungs may cause scarring and inflammation and diseases like mesothelioma and lung cancer.

Is it safe to be doing asbestos abatement in an occupied building?

Yes. Rand adheres to strict safety regulations to ensure asbestos does not move to uninvolved areas. This includes sealing off any part of a building’s ventilation system that may be present in the area.
Does the air coming out of an asbestos containment carry asbestos?

No. Negative air machines are used to draw potentially contaminated air across a series of HEPA filters to remove any asbestos fibers.
How do customers know that the job site is safe during and after abatement?

During asbestos abatement, third-party air monitoring is on site to monitor asbestos levels. After the abatement project is complete, a thorough inspection is completed with a Rand supervisor and a third-party industrial hygienist.
What happens to the asbestos that is removed?

Asbestos, or asbestos containing materials (ACM), are placed in special bags and marked accordingly. An approved asbestos hauler will pick-up the material from the job site and deliver it to a secure landfill that accepts this type of hazardous material and properly disposes of it.
